Although India's opposition has condemned the US and Israeli attacks on Iran, the Modi government remains silent.
The political positions of the Indian government and opposition on the US and Israeli attacks on Iran show significant differences.
The Indian National Party, the main opposition party in the country, condemned the joint US-Israeli attacks that led to the death of Ayatollah Khamenei.
In a strongly worded statement, the Party said it “unequivocally condemns the targeted assassination” of the Iranian leader, “in a military attack carried out without an official declaration of war.”
Interestingly, the government of India, which maintains warm relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, has not issued any official statement on Khamenei's death.
The Narendra Modi government has expressed concerns about escalating tensions in the Middle East, with the US, Israel and Iran launching missiles.
