In the announcement made via a post on X, the situation is described as "fluid" and it is announced that the names of the victims will not be published "out of respect for the families."
The US military statement:
At 9:30 a.m. (Eastern Time) on March 1, three American soldiers were killed in combat and five were seriously injured as part of Operation Epic Fury.
Several others suffered minor shrapnel wounds and brain injuries and are in the process of returning to duty. Major combat operations continue and our response is ongoing.
The situation is fluid, so out of respect for the families, we will not release further information, including the identities of the fallen soldiers, until 24 hours have passed since their relatives were notified.
