Donald Trump estimated that the US operation against Iran will last up to four weeks, while confirming the deaths of three American soldiers.
Donald Trump gave a telephone interview to the Daily Mail on Sunday (1/3), where he commented on the duration and development of the American military action against Iran , while confirming that three American soldiers had lost their lives.
The identities of the soldiers have not yet been released. The US president described them as "extraordinary people", acknowledging that such operations involve risk and that "losses, unfortunately, are possible".
As he said, the possibility of further casualties cannot be ruled out.
At the same time, he noted that these are the first American military personnel killed during his second presidential term, recalling that previous actions - such as the operation to capture Nicolas Maduro in January and the strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June - had not led to American casualties.
"So far the results have been positive ," he commented.
Trump also estimated that the confrontation with Tehran is not expected to last more than a month . According to him, the planning initially envisaged a time horizon of about four weeks, possibly even less, despite the size and capabilities of the country.
Referring to the operational picture, he argued that the US moves are being implemented according to planning and that the Iranian leadership has been decisively hit, speaking of a "much greater blow than expected" and citing the number 48.
Finally, he left open the possibility of dialogue with the Iranian side, without however clarifying whether a temporary suspension of military actions is being considered. As he said, Tehran has expressed its intention for talks, but - according to him - the relevant initiative should have been taken earlier.
